~30 engineers and researchers building the infrastructure for modern data analysis and science.
Founded in Paris in 2016. JupyterLab, Mamba, JupyterLite, emscripten-forge — tools reaching millions daily. Our team received several awards for our open source work.
We come from research. Most of us have PhDs. We approach every problem rigorously — whether it's a SAT solver for package resolution or a CRDT algorithm for collaborative CAD. Good science makes good software.
Openness
We build in the open, not because it's fashionable, but because it's right. Open-source removes the barriers that keep good tools from the people who need them most. Our work belongs to the community.
Integrity
We say what we mean in code reviews, in client conversations, and in our roadmaps. We don't oversell. We don't hide complexity. If we don't know, we say so. Trust is built slowly and lost quickly.
Optimism
Running Python in a browser with no server — on 2 servers for 400,000 students — sounded impossible until it wasn't. We take on the hard problems because we believe they're worth solving. The best open-source tools are still ahead of us.
Meet the team
Many of us have PhDs, deep engineering or open source maintenance backgrounds. We operate as a collective of contributors — everyone on the team ships code to the projects we maintain. No passengers.

Join the team
We're looking for researchers and engineers who want to work at the frontier of open-source data science and scientific computing — and ship code that millions of people depend on.
Sylvain Corlay is the founder and CEO of QuantStack.
As an open-source developer, Sylvain is active in the scientific computing ecosystem, particularly within the Jupyter project, as well as the conda-forge and xtensor projects. In 2018, he and the other Jupyter leadership members were awarded the ACM Software System Award.
Beyond QuantStack, Sylvain is involved in the community. He served as a board member of the NumFOCUS Foundation from 2018 to 2024, as the vice-chair of JupyterCon 2020, and General Chair of JupyterCon 2023 in Paris. He has coordinated the PyData Paris community since 2017, both as the organizer of the meetup group and as co-organizer of the annual conference in 2024 and 2025.
